Before the Blood Donor Be honest!

Blood donation is a noble act that helped save the lives of others. But that does not mean everyone can do it, because there are some questions to be answered before a person donate blood.

Donated blood for other people should be free from infectious disease, infection or abnormalities in the blood. Because it required examination (screening) to the donated blood will be for others.

Dr. Hilman Tadjoedin, SpPD, KHOM in a discussion "safe blood transfusion and rational" Dharmais Cancer Hospital, Jakarta, Thursday (06/10/2010) tells us there are some questions to be answered honestly before berdonor blood, namely:

1. Was ever conduct tests or examinations to HIV / AIDS or hepatitis?
2. Was ever inject or injected drugs without a prescription (drugs), either once or multiple times?
3. If a man, have you ever had oral or anal sex with someone other than their partner and whether the experience of using the tool (condoms) or not?
4. Was ever received money or drugs (narcotics) in exchange of having sex (eg sex workers)?
5. Are you or your partner has HIV / AIDS?
6. Are you or your spouse ever make contact with someone who has hepatitis B or C?

"If there is one question that the answer is Yes or if you feel in doubt then indicated by answer yes, then that person should not donate blood. Someone should answer this question honestly," said UI graduate from medical school in 1989.

Dr. Hilman also do not recommend that blood donors in people who have a problem:

Infectious diseases can be transmitted through blood such as hepatitis B, C or HIV / AIDS.
Patients recovering from Dengue Fever or Malaria

Also donated blood should also be made an examination of antibody to avoid transfusion reactions, and if necessary the transfused blood will be checked on two different occasions. That must be considered donors are:
